Is it safe ordering from CanMedi?
We are 1 of over 100 dispensaries in Vancouver (over 200 in Canada) that are NOT operating under the new federally approved medical marijuana system. To qualify under that system, you will need to acquire doctor’s approval and permission from Health Canada to purchase directly from a federally approved licensed producer.
City Hall and the VPD have allowed dispensaries to operate so people can safely access the medicine they need. There have been dozens of mail-order marijuana sites operating out of Vancouver over the past 2 decades, and we have yet to hear of any single person who has been charged for receiving their medicine in the mail within Canada.

What is cannabis?
The main psychoactive part of cannabis is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC); one of 483 known compounds in the plant, including at least 65 other cannabinoids. Different varieties of cannabis express different chemistries, which in turn produce a varying range of medicinal effects including psychoactive and non-psychoactive potencies.
Cannabis can be administered by smoking, vaporization, within food, or orally as an extract.
Who uses Cannabis?
Medical patients and recreational users above the age of 19 have the choice to use cannabis for various ailments as an organic alternative form of medication. Cannabis is used for a plethora of medical ailments from reducing seizures and treating the symptoms of Crohn’s, to reducing nausea and vomiting during chemotherapy, improving appetite in people with HIV/AIDS, and treating chronic pain and muscle spasms.
Why use cannabis?
The old age image of cannabis users are commonly portrayed as unmotivated, lazy “stoners”, but researching into why people use cannabis paints a completely different picture. If shows that most people use cannabis as a rational choice to enhance their quality of life. Cannabis affects people in different ways; It depends on the person, the situation, the type and quality of cannabis, and the method of use.
Research shows most people who use cannabis use it moderately. Since cannabis has a low risk for physical addiction, most people are not compelled to continue to use it. Instead, people use cannabis when they perceive its effects are beneficial. Those that “need” cannabis are the ones who reap the most benefit from the plant for aiding in treating the symptoms of their specific conditions. People all over the world have used cannabis for thousands of years for social, medical and spiritual reasons. Sometimes these reasons are distinct, but often they overlap.
Cannabis as a medication can be used to aid in hundreds of medical conditions or ailments including insomnia, depression, anxiety, pain and increasing appetite for those who suffer from cancer, epilepsy and PTSD.
Where to buy your Cannabis?
Cannabis is available through mail order and store-front dispensaries across Canada. CANMEDi is an online medicinal cannabis delivery service offering safe and efficient door-to-door mail order to eligible clients nationwide. For more information on how it works, read on.
What should I know when I am buying cannabis?
The first thing you should know when buying cannabis is what ailment you are looking to treat. Once the ailment is determined, you can then decipher the strength, strain, dosage and form of medication that best suits you, your lifestyle and your specific condition.
What can cannabis treat?
As a plant medicine, cannabis can be eaten, smoked, vaporized, and applied as a topical cream or oil/tincture under the tongue. There are more than 700 chemical constituents produced within the cannabis plant that interact with cannabinoid receptors found throughout our bodies.
Therefore, cannabis can treat ailments externally and internally without restricting its distribution of relief to any specific part, other than the body as a whole. Cannabis has scientifically been proven to treat Alzheimer’s disease, anxiety disorders, arthritis, cancer, depression, insomnia, diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, glaucoma, Hep C, HIV, AIDS, migraines, severe nausea, PTSD and Schizophrenia, in addition to subsiding further effects of these conditions such as pain, inflammation, and stress.
Is cannabis medicine?
The formal definition of medicine is the science and practice of the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. That being said, cannabis has scientifically been proven within multiple studies and research experiments to be an active ingredient in symptomatic relief, treatment and in some circumstances, a cure to specific ailments and conditions ranging from insomnia, reducing the size of tumors, decreasing frequency of seizures, migraines, depression, anxiety, PTSD, muscle spasms, eczema, psoriasis and muscle pain.
What if I don’t want to get high? Can I still use your cannabis products?
Some cannabis varieties produce THC, while others produce CBD; a non-psychoactive component of the cannabinoid structure. CBD is a key ingredient in cannabis and unlike THC, does not cause a “high” and has a wide range of medicinal benefits. CBD is offered in capsule form, flower with high CBD content, oils/tinctures, and edibles. In addition, CANMEDi also offers a variety of topical products with very little to no THC that can be applied to eczema, dry skin, burns and scars and is effective in treating the symptoms of arthritis. CBD acts as an antiemetic, anticonvulsant, antipsychotic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antitumoral, and antidepressant.
How do I choose the strain that is right for me?
Each cannabis variety produces different medicinal effects, owing to unique variations in the chemistry produced by each individual strain which varies from one strain to the next. The medicinal effects can vary so dramatically among cannabis varieties that each one can effectively become a different medicine. Understanding the primary varieties of cannabis is helpful with selecting the right cannabis medicine for you.
What kind of effect does cannabis produce? Are they different on everyone?
The effects are profoundly influenced by the ratios of cannabinoid and terpenoid interactions. Some cannabis varieties produce a high THC content, while others produce higher CBD, and some produce nearly equal amounts of both cannabinoids. For example, OG Kush, when cultivated under consistent conditions, will produce 24% THCA, 0.8 percent CBD. The most common and basic descriptors used to separate strains are typically divided into indica and sativa.
The consistency within cannabis is consistent in terms of different strain potency and basic effects. However, it is subjective to the user in terms of their own tolerance with cannabis, the form of intake, and their own chemical interactions with cannabis as a whole. Cannabis, just as any other medication, is extremely subjective to the sensitivity of the user’s cannabinoid receptors in their body.
What is the difference between Indica, Sativa and Hyprid strains?
Typically indica is used to describe varieties of broad leafleted cannabis plants which produce terpenes that sedate the body and mind, whereas sativa varieties are characterized as being narrow leafleted plants that produce more of a cerebral stimulation. Any strain that is not noted as 100% indica or sativa, is a blend of both varieties and falls into the hybrid category, meaning it has a ratio of both terpenes. Hybrids can be indica or sativa dominant and would reflect the characteristics and effects of the dominant strain.
What are the effects and uses of Medical Cannabis Indica Strains?
Cannabis indica strains generally create a sedative, “stoned” feeling. This sensation tends to be centred in the body, which relaxes as muscle tension is reduced. Indica strains are most effective in treating muscle spasms and tremors (for example those caused by multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, and Parkinson’s disease), chronic pain, arthritic and rheumatic stiffness and swelling, insomnia, anxiety and related conditions.
What are the effects and uses of Medical Cannabis Sativa Strains?
Cannabis sativa strains provide a cerebral, energetic “high” effect which is experienced in the mind as well as in the body. These strains are most effective for the treatment of nausea (for example nausea caused by chemotherapy or HIV/AIDS medications), appetite stimulation, migraine headaches, depression, chronic pain and similar symptoms.
What are the effects and uses of Medical Cannabis Hybrid Strains?
Hybrids or crossbreeds of indica and sativa strains exhibit characteristics from both types of cannabis. For some patients this offers an advantage, especially when medicating with cannabis to relieve chronic pain; something for which both indica and sativa strains are suitable.
Combining a sativa strain with an indica can aid mental clarity and decrease sedative effects, while incorporating an indica strain into a sativa can lower the tendency of pure sativa strains to occasionally stimulate anxiety. Most professionally bred cannabis seed strains contain both indica and sativa genes.
